Albenza

Albenza is administered for the treatment of parenchymal neurocysticercosis caused by active lesions due to larval forms of the pork tapeworm. This medicine may also be used for the treatment of cystic hydatid disease of the liver, lung, and peritoneum, caused by the the dog tapeworm larval forms. Albenza must be taken with food.

Warnings Precautions

Albenza may harm the fetus and treatment should begin after confirming that you are not pregnant. Due to the possible side effects on the liver or bone marrow, routine, two-weekly monitoring of blood counts and liver function tests should be made during the therapy. If you intend to become pregnant during treatment or within 1 month of completing the therapy, consult your doctor about possible harmful effects on the fetus.

Missing a Dose

Take the medicine as soon as you remember after missing a dose. Skip the missed dose and return to your usual dosing routine, if it is almost time for your next dose. Never take two doses at the same time.

Possible Side Effects

Symptoms are normally mild and no special treatment is necessary.

Storage

Store between 20?° and 25?°C (68?° and 77?°F).

Overdose

Symptomatic therapy and overall supportive measures are recommended in the case of an overdose. Seek medical help immediately.
