Buspar

Buspar is used for the general treatment of anxiety disorder. It acts upon chemical imbalances in the brain that are the main cause of anxiety. Buspar may be used to relieve the symptoms of other conditions as well. Take Buspar exactly as directed. Do not overdose or administer more frequently than instructed. In case of an upset stomach, take the medicine with food or milk. Your condition should improve within 7 to 10 days of beginning the treatment with Buspar. It may take 3 to 4 weeks for the full effect of the medicine to be felt.

Warnings Precautions

If you have a history of kidney or liver disease, or any drug allergies, consult your doctor before taking Buspar. Buspar may cause dizziness and/or drowsiness and alcohol intake during treatment should be limited. Exercise caution when performing hazardous activities or driving. If you are pregnant, notify your doctor before taking Buspar. It is not clear whether Buspar is passed onto breast milk and you should consult your doctor if you are breast-feeding.

Missing a Dose

In case of missing a dose, take the missed dose as soon as you remember. Skip the missed dose and resume your regular schedule if it is almost time for your next dose. Never take two doses at the same time.

Possible Side Effects

Drowsiness, dizziness, lightheadedness, fatigue, weakness, vivid dreams, insomia, dry skin, blurred vision, altered sense of taste and smell, weight gain, muscle aches, ringing in the ears, nausea, and headaches are among the possible side effects of Buspar. If you experience any of these symptoms or abnormal movements or twitching of the face or neck muscles, other involuntary movements or tremors, depression, confusion, incoordination, chest pain, breathing difficulties, notify your doctor. Contact your doctor if you observe any other unusual symptoms other than the above-listed.

Storage

Store Buspar at room temperature. Do not expose to excess heat and moisture. Dispose of the medication if it is beyond its expiry date or no longer needed. Store Buspar in its original container and keep out of reach of children.

Overdose

Nausea, vomiting, dizziness, drowsiness, and decreased pupil size are among the symptoms of a Buspar overdose. In case of a suspected overdose, seek medical help immediately.

More Information

Do not terminate the treatment with Buspar without your doctor’s permission. Unless, otherwise directed do not consume grapefruit or grapefruit juice during the treatment. Before beginning the treatment with Buspar, notify your doctor about all over-the-counter or prescription drugs you may be using, especially: other drugs for anxiety or depression, azole or macrolide antibiotics, haloperidol, narcotic pain relief medications.
