Carisoprodol is used to relieve pain, stiffness and discomfort caused by muscle spasms, strains and sprains. It is a muscle relaxant. Carisoprodol is administered orally in the form of tablets. The recommended dosage for adults is one 350 mg tablet of Carisoprodol, three times a day, preferably at bedtime. Carisoprodol should be taken with food or milk in order to reduce the risk of getting an upset stomach during the treatment with Carisoprodol. Children younger than 12 years of age should not take this medication.
Warnings Precautions
If you have been diagnosed with acute intermittent porphyria, you should not take Carisoprodol. If you suffer from kidney or liver disease, you should consult your doctor before taking Carisoprodol. Lower dosage or special monitoring may be required during treatment in such cases. Children younger than the age of 12 should not be treated with Carisoprodol. Since the effect of Carisoprodol on the fetus is unknown, consult your doctor first if you are pregnant. It is also not clear whether Carisoprodol is passed onto breast milk and you should seek your doctor’s advice if you are breast-feeding.
Missing a Dose
In case of a missed dose, take it as soon as you remember. Skip the missed dose and resume your regular schedule if it is almost time for your next dose. Never take two doses of Carisoprodol in order to catch up.
