Celexa

celexaCelexa belongs to the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors class of medications. The effect of Celexa on chemicals in the brain may cause depression. Celexa is administered for the treatment of depression. Celexa is administered orally in the form of tablets. It is to be taken once daily, with or without food. Follow the prescription label instructions carefully. Consult your doctor or pharmacist in case of any uncertainty with respect to the medication. Do not exceed the limit set by your doctor or take the medication more frequently than prescribed. Even if you feel better, continue to take Celexa. Do not discontinue the administration of Celexa before talking to your doctor. Celexa must be taken regularly for a few weeks before it can exercise its full effect.

Warnings Precautions

If you have liver or kidney disease, suffer from seizures or mania, or experience suicidal tendencies, consult your doctor before taking Celexa. Dosage adjustment or special monitoring during treatment may be required if you suffer from any of the above-listed conditions. In some cases treatment with Celexa may not be allowed at all. If you have had an allergic reaction to this medication in the past, do not take Celexa without first talking to your doctor. Celexa is in the C FDA pregnancy category meaning that its side effects on the fetus are unknown. Celexa is passed onto breast milk and may affect nursing infants. If you are pregnant or could become pregnant during treatment, or if you are breast-feeding, do not take Celexa without first talking to your doctor.

Missing a Dose

In case of missing a dose, take the medicine as soon as you remember. Skip the missed dose and resume your regular schedule if it is almost time for your next dose. Never take 2 doses at the same time.

Possible Side Effects

Sexual problems in male patients are among the most common side effects of Celexa. Other possible side effects may include nausea, dry mouth, sleepiness and increased sweating.

Storage

Celexa tablets should be stored in a dry place at room temperature of between 15?° and 30?°C

Overdose

Dizziness, sweating, nausea, vomiting, tremor, somnolence, and sinus tachycardia are among the most common symptoms of a Celexa overdose, by itself or in combination with other drugs and/or alcohol. Rare symptoms include amnesia, confusion, coma, convulsions, hyperventilation, cyanosis, rhabdomyolysis, and ECG changes.

More Information

Celexa may cause dizziness. Avoid hazardous activities and exercise caution while driving or operating machinery. Alcohol may increase drowsiness and dizziness while taking Celexa, and should be consumed with caution.
