Condylox

Condylox is a gel used for the treatment of genital warts. It is the first medication of its kind to receive FDA approval. Condylox Gel 0.5% or Solution 0.5% is recommended for the topical treatment of anogenital warts (external genital warts and perianal warts). The active ingredients in Condylox have an immediate effect. Condylox is applied twice daily for 3 consecutive days, followed by 4 treatment-free days. The cycle is repeated at weekly intervals for a maximum of 4 weeks. A maximum of 10 cm of wart tissue and no more than 0.5 ml of the solution should be used each day. Follow strictly prescription instructions.

Warnings Precautions

If you are allergic to medications, have other medical conditions or if you are taking other medications, consult your doctor first before using Condylox. Dosage adjustment or special monitoring may be required during treatment and in some cases the use of Condylox might not be recommended at all. Condylox topical is in the C FDA pregnancy category, meaning that its effect on the fetus is unknown. It is also not clear whether Condylox is passed onto breast milk. Do not use Condylox topical without first talking to your doctor if you are pregnant or breast-feeding. It is recommended that an effective birth control method is used during the treatment with Condylox topical.

Missing a Dose

In case of a missed dose, take the missed dose as soon as you remember. Skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule if it is almost time for your next dose. Never apply two doses of Condylox topical at the same time.

Possible Side Effects

If you experience an allergic reaction (shortness of breath; throat congestion; swelling of the lips, face, or tongue; or hives); or excessive burning, stinging, or pain or bleeding or swelling of the area of treatment, discontinue the therapy with Condylox topical and seek medical help immediately. If you experience mild to moderate itching, burning, pain, or inflammation of the treated area,; unpleasant odor; or pain during intercourse, continue the treatment with Condylox topical and ask your doctor for advice. Other less serious side effects different from the ones listed above may also occur. If you detect any symptoms that appear unusual or are particularly irritating, notify your doctor at once.

Storage

Store Condylox at room temperature. Do not expose to moisture. Dispose of this medication after its expiration date. Keep out of reach of children.

Overdose

Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, fever, numbness and tingling, confusion, unconsciousness and seizures are among the symptoms of a Condylox topical overdose. In case of a suspected overdose, seek medical help immediately.

More Information

If you experience difficulty in breathing, throat congestion, swelling of the lips, tongue or face, a rash, an irregular heartbeat, or seizures, notify your doctor at once. Condylox topical is for external application only. Wash hands before and after application of the medication. Do not pass this medication onto others.
