Cyclobenzaprine

Cyclobenzaprine is based on an active ingredient called cyclobenzaprine which acts as a muscle relaxant. It is used to relieve pain and stiffness caused by muscle injuries, including muscle spasms, strains and sprains. Cyclobenzaprine is administered orally in the form of tablets. The recommended dosage for adults is one 10 mg tablet three times daily. A total dosage of 60 mg of Cyclobenzaprine per day should not be exceeded. In case of an upset stomach, the medication may be taken with food. Follow prescription instructions carefully. Do not overdose or take more frequently than prescribed by your doctor.

Warnings Precautions

If you suffer from glaucoma, an overactive thyroid gland, heart disease, difficulty urinating or any allergies, notify your doctor before taking Cyclobenzaprine. In most cases side effects may be alleviated by following your doctor’s advice. However, there are some cases in which Cyclobenzaprine might not be recommended for use at all. Cyclobenzaprine may not be suitable for all individuals. If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, consult your doctor before taking this drug.

Missing a Dose

In case of missing a dose, take the missed dose as soon as you remember Skip the missed dose and resume your regular schedule if it is almost time for your next dose. Never take two doses at the same time.

Possible Side Effects

If you develop muscle stiffness, skin rash, itching, rapid heartbeat, swelling of the face, difficulty urinating, notify your doctor. Dizziness or lightheadedness may occur when rising abruptly from a resting position. Avoid hazardous activities, exercise caution on stairs and avoid changing positions quickly in order to reduce the risk of accidents. Stomach upset, heartburn, constipation, headache, dizziness or drowsiness, or dry mouth in the first few days are among the initial side effects of Cyclobenzaprine. Normally, these subside as your body adjusts to the medication. If these symptoms persist or become severe, consult your doctor. If you detect any symptoms that appear unusual and are not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Storage

Store at 25?°C (77?°F); Variations in temperature of between 15 and 30?°C (59-86?°F) are permitted. Keep out of reach of children.

Overdose

Troubled breathing, extreme nervousness or restlessness, flushed skin, hallucinations, racing or irregular heartbeat, seizures, shortness of breath, fatigue, unstable temperature, unusual muscle stiffness, vomiting (in combination with the above-listed symptoms) are among the symptoms of a Cyclobenzaprine overdose. If you suspect an overdose, seek medical help immediately.

More Information

When combined with MAO inhibitors, Cyclobenzaprine may have a lethal effect. Cyclobenzaprine is known to increase the effect of alcohol, barbiturates, and other CNS depressants.
