Nasonex helps relieve the symptoms of seasonal and chronic allergy. It is a nasal allergy spray belonging to the category of medications known as corticosteroids, which have been shown to have a wide range of effects on multiple cell types. Nasonex is used for the treatment of itchy, runny noses, sneezing and congestion caused by dust mites, pet furballs, and tree and grass pollen. Nasonex Nasal Spray is used because of its demonstrated anti-inflammatory effect. The Nasonex spray pump is usually used for two sprays in each nostril twice daily. Follow strictly the instructions of your doctor, shake well before use and do not use more frequently or for a longer period of time than prescribed. In order to combat the symptoms of seasonal allergy, therapy should begin 2-4 weeks before the onset of the allergy season. Generally, your condition will improve within 2 days and the full effect of Nasonex will be felt after 1-2 weeks of use. In order to achieve best results, Nasonex should be applied regularly.

Warnings Precautions

Since Nasonex can result in immune system deficiency and affect the ability of your body to fight off infection, its use may not be allowed in case of infections. If you have a viral, bacterial or fungal infection of any kind, inform your doctor before using Nasonex. If you have a nasal septum ulcer, or have recently had nasal surgery, or nasal damage, notify your doctor before using Nasonex. Dosage adjustment or special monitoring during treatment may be required in some cases. Nasonex is in the C FDA pregnancy category, meaning that the effect of Nasonex on the fetus is unclear. It has not been determined whether Nasonex is passed onto breast milk. Therefore, if you are pregnant or breast-feeding, do not use this medication without consulting your doctor first. Nasonex is not approved for use by children younger than 3 years of age.

Missing a Dose

In case of missing a dose, apply the missed dose as soon as you remember. Skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule, if it is almost time for your next dose. Never apply two doses at the same time.

Possible Side Effects

In the unlikely event of an allergic reaction to Nasonex, seek medical help immediately. Rashes, itching, swelling, dizziness, difficulty in breathing are among the symptoms of an allergic reaction. The possible side effects of Nasonex also include headaches or a sore throat. If these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor promptly. Vision alterations, unusual nasal bleeding or irritation/pain, blood-tinged mucus/phlegm, unusual increase in thirst or urination, nausea, weakness, weight loss are very unlikely to occur but if you experience any such symptoms, notify your doctor immediately. If you experience any other symptoms than the above-listed, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Storage

It is preferable to store Nasonex at 25?°C (77?°F). Storage temperatures may vary between 15 and 30?°C (59-86?°F). Do not expose to direct light after the removal of the 50 mcg Nasonex Nasal Spray from its container. Brief exposure to light for the purposes of normal use is acceptable.

Overdose

It is unlikely for an overdose to occur but in case you suspect an overdose seek medical help immediately.

More Information

The immune system may not be able to cope with infection during treatment with Nasonex. Therefore, stay away from people with chicken pox, measles, or any other type of contagious disease and do not expose yourself to known sources of infection. Clean areas where dust or pet furballs may have accumulated thus worsening your condition and avoid items that you know to have caused an allergic reaction in the past.
