Remeron

Remeron is used for the treatment of major depressive disorder. Feelings of sadness, worthlessness, or guilt; loss of interest in daily activities; changes in appetite; tiredness; sleeping too much; insomnia; and suicidal thoughts are among the more common symptoms of depression. Remeron is used for the relief of such symptoms.

Remeron is administered in the form of a tablet that should be swallowed with water. When beginning treatment, it is recommended to use Remeron Tablets of 15 mg/day once a day, preferably in the evening prior to sleep.

Warnings Precautions

If you suffer from liver or kidney disease; manic-depressive disorder; have blood problems; high or low blood pressure or heart disease; or if you have had a heart attack in the last 6 weeks; or experienced epilepsy or seizures, consult your doctor before beginning treatment with Remeron. Dosage adjustment or special monitoring during treatment may be required if you suffer from any of the above-listed conditions and in some cases treatment with Remeron might not be allowed at all. Remeron should not be administered if you are currently undergoing or have undergone treatment with monoamine oxidase inhibitors over the previous 14 days. Remeron is in the C FDA pregnancy category, meaning that its effect on the fetus is unknown. It is also not clear whether Remeron is passed onto breast milk. If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, do not take Remeron without consulting your doctor first. Drowsiness, dizziness, unsteadiness, loss of coordination and low blood pressure are more likely to be experienced by people older than 60 and a reduced medication dose may be required in such cases.

Missing a Dose

In case of missing a dose, take the missed dose as soon as you remember. Skip the missed dose and resume your regular schedule, if it is almost time for your next dose. Unless otherwise advised by your doctor, do not take two doses at the same time.

Possible Side Effects

If you experience an allergic reaction (swelling of the lips, face, or tongue; difficulty in breathing); seizures; a rapid or irregular heartbeat; or fever, chills, a sore throat, flu-like symptoms, or sores in the mouth or nose, which are among the more serious side effects of Remeron, discontinue treatment and contact your doctor or seek medical help immediately. Treatment with Remeron may be continued if less serious side effects occur. In case of drowsiness; nausea; an increase in weight or appetite; dizziness; dry mouth; constipation; or mild tremor, terminate the treatment with Remeron and contact your doctor or seek medical help immediately. If you experience any symptoms which appear unusual or are particularly irritating, consult your doctor as these may be side effects other than the ones listed above.

Storage

Store at controlled room temperature 20?°- 25?° C(68?°- 77?° F) in a tightly closed container. Do not expose to direct light.

Overdose

Disorientation, drowsiness, impaired memory, and tachycardia are among the symptoms of a Remeron overdose. No ECG abnormalities, coma or convulsions have been reported in cases of an overdose with Remeron alone. Medical help should be sought at once in case of a suspected overdose.
