Tamiflu

tamifluTamiflu is used for the relief of the less severe symptoms of influenza infection. Tamiflu is administered orally in doses of 75 mg twice a day over a period of 5 days. The treatment with Tamiflu must start within 2 days of the appearance of influenza symptoms. Tamiflu may be taken with or without food but combining the treatment with food may increase tolerance to Tamiflu.

Warnings Precautions

It is unclear whether Tamiflu is passed onto breast milk. Since taking Tamiflu may affect nursing infants the pros and cons of administering the drug must be weighed carefully. Tamiflu is not to be used as a substitute to flu vaccinations. Even when taking Tamiflu annual flu vaccinations must be applied.

Missins a Dose

In case of missing a dose take it as soon as you remember. Skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule if it is almost time for your next dose. Never take two doses at the same time.

Possible Side Effects

Nausea (without vomiting), vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, dizziness, headache, cough, insomnia and fatigue are among the less serious side effects of Tamiflu.

Storage

Store Tamiflu in a fridge at temperatures of 36?? to 46??F (2?? to 8??C). Do not freeze.

Overdose

Nausea and/or vomiting are among the symptoms of a Tamiflu overdose. In case of a suspected overdose seek medical help.

More Information

The treatment with Tamiflu must begin as soon as influenza symptoms are detected. Preventive treatment should begin as soon as possible after exposure in accordance with the advice of your physician.
