Wellbutrin SR

Wellbutrin SR is used for the treatment of ADHD (Attention Deficit Disorder), bipolar depression, chronic fatigue syndrome, cocaine addiction, nicotine addiction, and lower back pain. Wellbutrin SR (Anti Depressant) belongs to the class of medications known as prescription antidepressants, which have a direct effect on the brain and nerve cells. As such, it has been shown to help in quitting smoking and its effect is identical to that of Zyban. In terms of chemical composition, Wellbutrin SR is not related to the group of tricyclic, tetracyclic, selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitors or other antidepressant agents. Wellbutrin SR is administered orally in the form of a tablet, once to three times a day. It may be taken with or without food. Wellbutrin SR tablets should be swallowed whole without chewing or crushing them. Even if your condition improves, do not discontinue the treatment with Wellbutrin SR without consulting your doctor first, especially if large doses have been administered over a long period of time. Gradual dosage reduction may be recommended by your doctor. In order for the full effect of this drug to be felt, it should be taken regularly over a period of a few weeks.

Warnings Precautions

If you have a history of seizures or head injury or brain tumor, heart disease, liver or kidney disease, eating disorder, diabetes, alcohol dependence, any allergies, or are trying to quit smoking, consult your doctor before beginning the treatment with Wellbutrin SR. Wellbutrin SR may cause dizziness or drowsiness. Driving and operating machinery should be avoided until you have become familiar with the effect of the medication. Since alcohol might increase the risk of seizures, limit or avoid consumption of alcoholic beverages. The sudden termination of alcohol intake by chronic alcohol users or discontinuing treatment with certain tranquilizers while taking Wellbutrin SR might increase the risk of seizures. People over the age of 65 are more likely to experience the side effects of Wellbutrin SR. If you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant during treatment, consult your doctor first before taking this drug. Wellbutrin SR is passed onto breast milk. Due to the potential harmful effect of Wellbutrin SR on nursing infants, consult your doctor before breast-feeding.

Missing a Dose

In case of missing a dose, take the missed dose as soon as possible but not if you have less than four hours before your next dose. Skip the missed dose and resume your regular schedule if it is almost time for your next dose. Never take two doses at the same time.

Possible Side Effects

Few side effects of Wellbutrin SR have been reported. Dry mouth, headache, increased sweating, nausea/vomiting, constipation, anxiety, fatigue and blurred vision are among some of the less serious side effects of Wellbutrin SR. Notify your doctor should these symptoms persist or worsen. Unusual weight alterations, palpitations, agitation, troubled sleeping should be reported promptly. Tremors, dizziness, fainting, mood swings, slowed movements, difficulty urinating, decreased sex drive, and drowsiness occur rarely but should be reported during treatment. Seizures, mental problems, fever, muscle aches, yellowing of the eyes or skin are among the rarest side effects of Wellbutrin SR and should be reported immediately. Troubled breathing, rashes, itching, swelling, or severe dizziness are among the symptoms of an allergic reaction. Allergic reactions to this drug are unlikely but should these occur, seek medical help immediately. Should you notice other effects different from the above-listed ones, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Storage

Store at controlled room temperature, 20?° to 25?°C (68?° to 77?°F). Store in a tightly closed container. Do not expose to direct light.

Overdose

Seizures, hallucinations, loss of consciousness, weakness, a rapid heartbeat, and heart attacks are among the symptoms of a Wellbutrin SR overdose. In case of a suspected overdose, seek medical help immediately.

More Information

Large doses of Wellbutrin SR may increase the risk of seizures. Cases of feeling dizzy when rising from a resting position have been reported during treatment with Wellbutrin SR. In order to prevent possible accidents, rise slowly. During treatment with Wellbutrin SR, the consumption of caffeine should be reduced.
