Zithromax

Zithromax is used for the treatment of bacterial infections, such as bronchitis, pneumonia, tonsillitis, skin infections, ear infections, and sexually transmitted diseases. Zithromax is administered orally in the form of a tablet or liquid, usually once a day, for a duration of 2 to 5 days. Follow prescription instructions strictly.

Do not overdose or take Zithromax more or less frequently than directed by your doctor. Capsules and tablets should be taken with a full glass of water, with or without food. In case of an upset stomach, take Zithromax with food. Shake the liquid well before use. Ingest the liquid at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after a meal. Even if your condition improves, continue the treatment with Zithromax and do not terminate the therapy without consulting your doctor first.

Warnings Precautions

If you have liver disease, consult your doctor first before taking Zithromax. Dosage adjustment or special monitoring during treatment may be required in such cases or the use of Zithromax might not be recommended at all. Zithromax is in the B FDA pregnancy category, meaning that it is not expected to have a harmful effect on the fetus. It is not clear whether Zithromax is passed onto breast milk. If you are pregnant or could become pregnant during treatment, or you are breast-feeding, consult your doctor first before taking Zithromax.

Missing a Dose

In case of missing a dose, take it as soon as you remember. Skip the missed dose and resume your regular schedule if it is almost time for your next dose. Unless otherwise directed by your doctor, do not take two doses of the medication.

Possible Side Effects

If you experience an allergic reaction (difficulty in breathing; throat congestion; swelling of the lips, tongue, or face; or hives); or liver damage (yellowing of the skin or eyes, nausea, abdominal pain or discomfort, unusual bleeding or bruising, severe fatigue), discontinue the treatment with Zithromax and seek medical help immediately. If you have nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or abdominal pain; unusual dizziness, fatigue, or headache; vaginal yeast infection; a rash; or increased sensitivity to sunlight, continue the treatment with Zithromax and ask your doctor for advice. Other less serious side effects different from the ones listed above may occur. If you detect any symptoms that appear unusual or are particularly irritating, inform your doctor and seek advice.
