Zyrtec is used to relieve the symptoms of allergies, hives (urticaria), and other allergic inflammatory conditions. Zyrtec belongs to the category of medications known as antihistamines which are used for the treatment of allergic symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, itching and watering of the eyes. Zyrtec is administered orally in the form of a tablet once daily. It may be used for the prevention of allergies and taken on a regular basis or when allergy symptoms occur. Follow strictly prescription label instructions. Consult your doctor or pharmacist in case instructions are not clear to you. Zyrtec should not be taken in doses different from the ones prescribed by your doctor.
Warnings Precautions
If you have liver or kidney disease, consult your doctor first before taking Zyrtec. Dosage adjustment or special monitoring during treatment may be required if you suffer from any of the above-listed conditions. In some case the treatment with Zyrtec might not be recommended at all. Zyrtec is in the C FDA pregnancy category, meaning that its effect on the fetus is unknown. It is also not known whether Zoloft is passed onto breast milk. If you are pregnant or could become pregnant during treatment, or you are breast-feeding, do not administer Zyrtec without consulting your doctor first. People over 60 are more likely to experience side effects during treatment with Zyrtec and a lower medication dose might be recommended.
Missing a Dose
In case of missing a dose, do not catch up by taking an extra tablet. Take the next dose in accordance with your regular dosing schedule. Do not alter the dosage prescribed by your doctor.

If you experience an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; throat congestion; swelling of your lips, tongue, or face; or hives), discontinue the treatment with Zyrtec and seek medical kelp immediately. Continue to take Zyrtec and consult your doctor if you experience sleepiness, fatigue, or dizziness; headache; or dry mouth which are among the less severe side effects of Zyrtec. Should any symptoms occur that appear unusual or are particularly irritating, consult your doctor as other side effects than the ones listed above may occur.
